Business idioms with 'make'

make the best of s/th = try to see the positive side of a situation
"Even though business is very bad, we must try to make the best of it."


make a quick buck = make money easily and sometimes dishonestly
"He always wants to make a quick buck, no matter how."


make ends meet = be able to pay your expenses even when your income is very low
"I find it hard to make ends meet on my salary. It's just not enough."


make a go of s/th = try to make a success of something
"Let's try to make a go of the new department."


make a killing = make lots of money very quickly
"We always make a killing with this kind of deal."


make do (with s/th) = improvise
"We don't have the right equipment, so we'll just have to make do with what we've got."

    The definition of "make the best of" in my dictionary, listed as below, is different from yours. Would you please tell me which usage is better? Thanks!

    make the best of = to do as well as one can with a thing or situation that is unsatisfactory

    make the best of a bad job = to accept, esp. in a cheerful way, bad or unsatisfactory conditions and do the best one can in the situation

    Thanks for leaving a comment. I think the definitions you give are the same, aren't they? The key point in your definitions is 'unsatisfactory' and trying to be positive and cheerful about a negative situation.
