Strawberries! Everyone loves them! But, as I was eating some over the weekend, I was thinking about what strawberries mean and what we associate with them.
In Taiwan people associate strawberries with winter, with February and especially with Valentine's Day. Strawberries are shaped a bit like a heart, and are traditionally used in Valentine's day cakes and treats:
British people, on the other hand, associate strawberries with summer. For British people, strawberries mean summertime, and we like to eat them with cream:
At Wimbledon, the world famous tennis tournament, for example, held every year in June, the traditional dish to eat while watching the game, is 'strawberries and cream'.
So it's an interesting cultural difference, right?
