Alone in the Wild

The Discovery Channel is an excellent way to learn English, especially to practice your listening and to build your vocabulary. The shows are interesting, and based on real life, so the vocabullary is often very useful. Here is a trailer for their new show: Alone in the Wild.

Imagine you were left in the jungle for 6 days with only a camera and some equipment, and you had to survive. Would be able to make it? I don't think I would! In this show, ordinary people are left in the jungle and they have to survive for 6 days and nights. 

Vocabulary:

• no games = it's real, not a game
• I suppose this is it. = I guess this is real.
• crew = the people who make the show: cameraman, sound man, director
• we'll see you in six days time = in 6 days time, not 6 days later, or 6 days after
• I can't get it going = I can't start it
• I think I've got lost = I don't know where I am
• It's really, really scary now = it's frightening.
• This is no joke any more = this is not fun or funny. It's serious.
• brand new = totally new
