One of the accents in my previous post was Transatlantic Accent. This is a mix of British and American. It was popular during the 1940s, especially in black and white Hollywood movies, when American actors were trying to make themselves sound like British, and British actors were trying to sound like Americans. That way they could increase their audiences on both sides of the Atlantic.
Here is an example:
She says:
Funny business, a woman’s career. The things you drop on your way up the ladder so you can move faster. You forget you need them again when you get back to being a woman. It’s one career all females have in common, whether we like it or not.
